RECIPE Corn bread

I posted some pictures from Thanksgiving the other day and am happy that some of my friends and family in Japan asked me the recipes because they wanted to try it on Christmas.

I baked these corn bread this morning again. It's very simple & quick. Also it's the best when it's hot. Just throw into your mouth right off the oven!

SERVINGS
10-12 muffin cups
INGREDIENTS
100 g unsalted butter, softened   (無塩バター)
120 g sugar   (砂糖)
2 eggs   (卵)
260 ml milk   (牛乳)
190 g all-purpose flour   (小麦粉)
90 g cornmeal   (コーンミール)
1 tablespoon baking powder   (ベーキングパウダー 大さじ1)
3/4 teaspoon salt   (塩 小さじ3/4)

The corn meal I used was this

DIRECTIONS

1. Measure all the ingredients first and put them aside before you start mixing anything! That will make everything easy, fast and no mess in your kitchen!

2. Preheat oven to 400 degree F (200℃)

2. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

3. Mix eggs and milk in a separate bowl. Combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder and salt in a separate bowl; add to creamed mixture alternately with egg mixture.

4. Pour into greased muffin tins. (you can use any shape of tin you like) Bake at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted into bread comes out clean.

Serve warm.

Happy Thanksgiving! 2011

Bunch of pictures from last Thursday. This was my first Thanksgiving cooking. I had been always at somebody's house for Thanksgiving dinner last three years. I just really wanted to try whole roasted thing this year, so we decided to stay home and cook ourselves!! However, I chose chicken instead of turkey just because I don't like turkey. But honestly, it turned out so right that I picked chicken. It was delicious, and perfect size. I mean, it was still BIG but much smaller than whole turkey! Oh, we had a biggg delicious dinner, so good. I will update some of the recipes some time soon!

Happy Holidays!!!

The Last Of Summer

I already miss the real hot summer.
At the last minutes before the summer ended, Andy Alexandre picked up a bunch of summer veggies from the market. Then we pickled them to preserve some summer flavors.
They came out very nice....
Now I have a small summer spot in my kitchen.

Del Posto

Del Post in Chelsea

Excellent restaurant.
Beautiful atmosphere with live piano music. White and clean not-a-winkle tablecloth on all tables.
Their Italian food was amazing with no doubt.
Also I have to mention about their wine list. It had more than 80 pages!

Excellent food, great wine and piano sound.
Such a beautiful afternoon....

The Hood : Bushwick

Where I live, where all different cultures are mixed.
Loud Hispanic music on streets, a chili factory, huge Chinese industrial warehouses, young artists' lofts in old factory buildings.

Colorful Things On Lampposts

Love this recent public art in the East Village.
The bright colorful sight surprises you and makes you feel excited when you see it right off the dark subway track.
New York City looks very peaceful with funny look lampposts.
